Welcome to AAP Books, the home for the American Academy of Pediatrics' award-winning pediatric content, spanning a multitude of topics ranging from high-interest parenting titles to clinical reference, diagnosis, and treatment. AAP Books Collections are offered to institutions as a site license; individuals can purchase single titles at shopAAP.

Individual Access
How do I purchase and access my eBooks?
AAP Books can be acquired in multiple ways. Individuals can purchase single titles for the life of the edition through shopAAP.
AAP Books are available upon purchase, with no wait time for shipping or processing. AAP Books uses the same AAP account information as other resources, such as shopAAP, Pediatrics, PediaLink, and Pediatric Care Online. If you have difficulty logging in, please clear your browser history and try again by going to the eBook and logging in when prompted. You can retrieve or change your username and password here.
Beginning June 1, 2022, Login Username is the Primary Email associated with your account. Click to learn more.
Individual purchases are life-of-edition and are not automatically replaced with new editions.
Log in to the shopAAP My Digital Library page for a list of the titles on your account, and click the "Open" button to launch a title in your browser. You can also log in at AAP Books and search or browse by title or subject.
Do you provide samples of your AAP Books?
All AAP Books have open content that users can see before purchasing. Click the “Front Matter” PDF button on a book's table of contents for a free preview.
How can I see my past purchases?
If you already have an AAP account, visit https://www.aap.org/en/my-account/products-subscriptions/library/ and enter your AAP login and password. You will then see your eBooks in your Digital Library.
What if I have an activation code?
If you have an activation code for an eBook or group of eBooks, log in to the shopAAP My Digital Library page and enter your code in the box in the upper right, then return to the site to access.
What are the member benefit titles?
Select titles are available as benefits of membership to AAP or certain member types. For more information, log in to your account or contact us.
What is your return policy?
Due to the nature of the item, eBooks cannot be returned. Once an eBook is purchased, the sale is considered final. If you purchased the eBook in error because you intended to purchase the print version or a different eBook, contact mcc@aap.org.
What is pay per view?
Ebook chapters can be purchased using pay-per-view. To purchase short-term (48-hour) access to a chapter, click the "Buy This Chapter" button and follow the prompts. Note that the AAP Publications site contains both current content and older content that may be of interest for historical purposes only. The Single Activity/Pay-Per-View Access window extends 48 hours from the time of order completion. Before you complete your purchase, please carefully review whether this content will meet your needs. To purchase an ebook in its entirety, please visit shopAAP.org. Due to the nature of the item, full ebook purchases and and ebook chapter purchases are nonrefundable. .

Access options
AAP Books supports online access via Internet browser for institutions. AAP Books supports the following authentication models: IP address/range, Athens, referring URL, and username/password. Institutional users can also connect access from outside their institutional network and through the mobile apps by linking their individual AAP ID to their organization's subscription: Access Institutional Resources Remotely.

The institutional administrator can log in at sitemaster.publications.aap.org/admin/login.aspx. In the Reports section, COUNTER 5 and Other Reports are available. What is an eBook?
An eBook is an electronic version of a book that can be accessed through our web site or mobile app. The AAP Books platform allows users to read on any screen on our responsive site with a current browser and Internet connection.
The AAP Books site is fully searchable. Users can search for terms in a single title, across all AAP Books, or across the entire AAP Publications platform. Users can download PDFs by chapter or print out pages for future reference. In those books with full html display, all of the content is fully searchable and hyperlinks, media files, and other enhancements are accessible by clicking links in the content.
All AAP parenting titles and select professional titles are available for purchase on Amazon, Apple Books, Kobo, Nook with support for the devices served by those stores.
How do I use AAP Books?
Online: You can read your eBook on any device with a current Internet browser and online access.
Offline: AAP Books free reading apps for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets are available for offline downloads of titles. Chapter PDFs can be downloaded from the AAP Books site for offline reading.
What are the technical requirements?
Online: Current browser and Internet connection on any device.
Offline: Tablet, smartphone, or media player running at least iOS 12 or Android 5.0 and the installed AAP Books Reader app.

How do I receive permission to use the content in a course or publication?
Contact permissions@aap.org or use the “Get Permissions” link on the eBook detail page if you would like permission to use the content in a course or publication.
How do I publish with the AAP?
To publish with the AAP, you should have a great concept for a clear audience, and the time and focus to be able to write a manuscript and/or manage a group of excellent coeditors/coauthors. To get started, please contact AAP Publications at newpubs@aap.org.

This free mobile application allows users to download their AAP Books for offline reading on iOS and Android tablets and smartphones. Requires 19 MB storage plus the size of the downloaded eBooks, and a current version of iOS or Android.
For Amazon Kindle Fire and other Android-based eReaders, make sure to enable “installation of apps from external sources” in your device settings.
The AAP Books Reader app is the best option for frequent access to the same title, and/or when a connection is not available.
How to log in to the app
The AAP Books Reader app is free, but an AAP Login is required to view and download titles. There is no device limit per login.
- Individuals: Log in to the AAP Books app using your individual AAP Login if you purchased AAP Books title(s) through ShopAAP; you used an activation code for an AAP Book; and/or you have access to select title(s) by virtue of AAP membership.
- Institutions: If your institution provides Web-based access to AAP Books, you can access these while on-site and connected to the organization's network, or you can access them remotely by following these instructions.
