A 2,440-g infant is born at 36 weeks, 6 days’ estimated gestational age to a 17-year-old gravida 1 woman after induction of labor for preeclampsia with severe features. The pregnancy had been uncomplicated until 5 days before delivery when the mother was diagnosed with preeclampsia. She is varicella nonimmune but her laboratory findings are otherwise seroprotective. Fetal anatomic survey at 17 weeks had been normal. Neck view and heart views were unable to be completed at that time. However, follow-up imaging at 21 weeks showed the remaining views, all of which were normal. On admission, the mother was started on magnesium and nifedipine treatment for preeclampsia. The membranes were artificially ruptured to reveal clear fluid, with the total rupture of membranes being 18 hours before delivery. Labor progressed without complication.
