A term female neonate is born via vacuum-assisted cesarean section, after an uneventful pregnancy, to a 28-year-old gravida 4 woman. The mother had a previous cesarean delivery, but currently has no evidence of hyperglycemia or any chronic diseases. The neonate has apnea, requiring standard resuscitative measures, including noninvasive positive pressure ventilation for 2 minutes and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for 10 minutes. Her Apgar scores are 5 and 8 at 1 and 5 minutes, respectively. Her admission growth parameters are appropriate for gestational age, with a weight of 2.805 kg (16th percentile), head circumference of 34 cm (54th percentile), and length of 48.3 cm (32nd percentile) using Fenton growth curves.
