The United States is a nation of immigrants. Since 1820, an estimated 75,356,720 people have immigrated to the United States.1 Currently, almost 3 million foreign-born children live in the United States, accounting for 1 in 27 American children.2 Twenty percent of children under the age of 6 are the children of immigrants, and are the fastest growing population of children in the United States.3 This chapter provides a comprehensive approach to providing high-quality health care to immigrant children.
