This chapter highlights the relationships of safe sleep, skin-to-skin contact, and breastfeeding with sudden, unexpected postnatal or infant sleep-related events. The evidence behind recommendations on safe sleep, skin-to-skin contact, and breastfeeding for infants from birth to 6 months is examined in the context of the complex interrelationships of these practices.
